Since establishing a presence in 1957 as a converter of soft packaging materials specializing in photogravure printing and plate-making, DAISAN has been at the forefront of innovation.
Plate-making is critical to photogravure printing. DAISAN's continuous work on improving printing precision resulted in 1995 in the implementation of an innovative laser stream system which directly writes the images processed by the response system onto the cylinder. A DAISAN first, this process automates coating, etching and photo developing through the use of robots. High quality results are delivered efficiently every time. Our conventional engraving process, now coupled with our revolutionary laser plate-making system allows us to enjoy the best of both worlds, for example, by using the former system for halftone plate-making and the latter for plate-making where characters are involved. This dual system, as well as our nearly half a century of experience, results in products of the highest quality which allow us to lead the industry.
Our landmark innovation in plate-making was preceded by numerous firsts over the years. In 1989, DAISAN installed state-of-the-art compressed-air molding equipment, which enables our company to respond to a broad range of needs such as deep-wringing molding, complex stitching molding, and other specific requirements. In 1986, DAISAN was among the first in the industry to introduce a computer graphics division and to employ a computerized picture processing system. This enabled rapid and precise digital color correction, plate composition, tone setting, and retouching via a color CRT display. DAISAN's on-line network, launched in 1986, allows the company to track orders, set up production schedules, and transmit information to managers with the result that DAISAN is increasingly responsive to customers as well as to its employees. Currently, DAISAN's network is being enhanced to allow customers to confirm and track the progress of their orders via the internet.
However important technological developments have been to DAISAN's success over the years, technology has not been DAISAN's only concern. Thus, DAISAN has also led the way with respect to environmental issues and employee well-being. DAISAN was one of the first companies in the industry to adhere to strict pollution control standards as well as to enact an energy conservation protocol. Our efforts were rewarded when DAISAN received an award in 1965 from the Bureau of Labor Standards for employee health management. In addition, our Fukadaike plant, inaugurated in 1976 and expanded in 1981, was designated a model factory by Aichi Prefecture.
